Armed with the knowledge gained in decades of research and empowered by a unique skillset earned over a lifetime spent as a true craftsman, artist Randy Decker is on a quest to recreate the famed Gorre & Daphetid model railroad. Take some time to learn about the project below.
Hanging more than 140 scale feet above rocky Ryan Gulch, a curved wooden trestle lies just outside famed Devil's Postpone. It is now recreated to perfection.
While floor to ceiling landscape was a John Allen trademark on his final layout, there was also urban and industrial areas as well. One of his most famous buildings was found at Great Divide.
Thanks to the legacy of hundreds of original photographs and rare images of John Allen's innovating and complex layout, Randy Decker is carefully recreated the Gorre & Daphetid into his home's purpose-built layout room. While not an exact replica due to size restrictions, the final project will be almost identical to John Allen's masterpiece in every way.
